2012

I don't usually do these year-in-review type posts; in fact, I've never done one as long as I've been blogging. But since it's the last day of the year, I thought it would be appropriate. Here are a few links to popular posts; perhaps there's one in here you missed the first time around.

7 Days of Sunsets

The Arlington County Fair

Indoor Fireworks

DIY Yarn-Wrapped Bottle Vase

A Walk in Autumn

New Light Fixtures for Our New House

A Day in DC

Getting Ready for a Pop-Up Shop

DIY Yellow Polka Dot Pitcher

A Night with Psycho, a Carousel, and Sculpture

I think I did somewhere around 185 posts this year, so picking just 10 was really hard. Anyway, thank you to all the people reading this right now! You make it fun to share a little bit of my world here, and I plan to keep going in 2013...hopefully, with more progress posts on decorating the house, more diys, more of my own art, and of course, "scenes from life." Oh, and Happy New Year's Eve, everybody! I hope everyone has an awesome night with good people. :)

Scenes from Life

A few pics from a sort of dreary day. I'm afraid winter weather is officially here, and I'm likely to go into hibernation mode any day now. That reminds me I need to go to the library and stock up on some good books.

Also, I wanted to share this beautiful brooch I bought from House of Ismay for my mom. I blogged about this shop last August, and I'm happy to say the brooch looks even better in person! I will definitely be back to buy more brooches from Sarah. I think this was my favorite present I bought this year.

Scenes from Life

Happy Christmas Eve to everyone! Hope you are staying warm and enjoying family and friends, or at least tolerating them. ;)

When I was growing up, my parents always threw a huge party on Christmas Eve; they still do, though we are rarely in town for it these days. It was always fun, but I don't mind a quiet night either. This year, it's just me and Peter at home, and I think we're going to have a movie marathon and stuff our faces.

What are you up to tonight?

When clustered sparks of many-colored fire appear at night in ordinary windows

Here's a peek at the Christmas decorations at our house this year. Can you believe Christmas Day is next week? I know all the little ones are probably ecstatic that it's only a few days away. For kids, everything is about the countdown to the big day: Advent calendars and letters to Santa and staying up as late as you can on Christmas Eve in anticipation. But these days, I just want to enjoy every day of the whole season, and I wish it lasted just a little bit longer.
