One Photo Every Hour (or Thereabouts) - Saturday

Last Saturday, we had planned to go to the arboretum and do other fun things around town, but when we woke up and realized that it was going to be super hot and sticky outside, we decided to nix that idea and just stay home. I thought about not doing a "photo every hour" post since we canceled plans, but I decided to do it anyway. I'm glad I did because it turned out to be a pretty good day.

9 am
I'm drinking coffee and looking at my new pink cactus I got last week. Isn't it the cutest? It is already very sunny (read: hot as hell) outside.

10 am
We watch a bit of the Tour de France. They are in the Pyrenees, and it's gorgeous. (The only reason I ever watch any of the Tour de France is for the pretty scenery...like most people, right?)

11 am
We decide to repot our herbs on the patio. Of course, we make a huge mess, and it takes just as long to clean up as it did to do the repotting.

1 pm
Studio time. I'm working on some miniature abstract paintings. Not sure how many I'll do--maybe 8 or 9. I'll list them in my shop when this series is finished. I also make a treasury and do other Etsy stuff.

4 pm
We go to see Monsters U. It's really cute and several scenes make me laugh out loud. (Also, how sad is it that even the early show is $12? That's why we hardly ever go to see movies in the theater. How much do matinee movies cost where you live?)

7 pm
I've been craving a grilled cheese sandwich and fries for days, so we go to the diner for dinner.

8 pm
We decide to go for a walk in the garden on the way home, and we basically have the place to ourselves. The heat of the day is finally subsiding a bit, and it's really nice. The garden is beautiful, as always.

10 pm
Still playing catch-up on season 7 of Dexter. We just have one more disc left. Peter and I are speculating about how this season, as well as the whole series, will end. No spoilers if you already know! :)

That was the last photo I took. Hope you guys had a good Saturday too!

  1. Sounds like you had a great saturday!! Maybe, I'll consider a photo every hour for Thursday which is my next day off.

Also, why are movies so expensive?? For a matinee it's about 9 bucks! Insanity. I remember when it was 4.00. I'm sure some folks remember when it was dollar.

Also, Whenever you post a picture of Peter it seems like he doesn't want to be photographed. Perhaps you just pic the one picture that he didn't like and post that one.

    1. Don't let him fool you; he loves it! He loves the attention. I try really hard to get photos when he doesn't know I'm taking them, though, real candid shots, and that's really hard...because a huge camera in my face is not subtle. However, I think I've trained him by now that if he sees me with my camera, to just keep doing what he's doing and don't turn and smile at the camera, which is the default response most of us have when we see a camera. I much prefer shots that aren't posed...I usually don't post those. Also, he likes any picture he's in-haha.

You should totally do a "photo every hour" post!

  5. Looks like a good day, even though your original plans got cancelled. That milkshake looks like a milkshake should look like (in my opinion), I've never had one with a cherry on top. Happy to see you got that grilled cheese sandwich :-) I promised myself some fries later this week. I love fries.

  8. Grilled cheese, fries and a shake...couldn't ask for a better day!
Wow, $12 for a movie! Now wonder we don't ever go.

  9. I live in the UK and for a student its like £5, and a general adult admission is like £7 I think. So probably would be about $8 for a student and $11 for an adult.

  12. $12 for an early show?! I'd never go to the movies again! Well, no, that's a lie, but I wouldn't be happy about it. Matinees here are $5 or $6 depending on the theater, and later shows are $10 or $11.

I think you still had a pretty good day even if your original plans didn't work out. I like lazy days where you can just play it by ear.
