It's been a rough couple of weeks around here. I mentioned last week that I went to the dentist and was sore, but I didn't mention that I also developed a sinus infection at the same time, and the sinus pressure combined with nerve pain from the dentist has been nothing short of epic...possibly the most intense pain I've ever felt in my life at a couple points. So needless to say, there hasn't been a lot of leaving the house lately. It's a shame really because the weather has been absolutely gorgeous around here. I'm hoping I feel well enough to get out a bit this weekend.
I guess the bright side is that all this time at home has been somewhat productive. I mentioned the shop update yesterday, and I've also discovered loads of photos on my computer from the past few months that I never found time to edit or post before. Here are a few random photos, all taken at twilight on different days.
Twilight in the summer is my absolute favorite time...even when the heat of the day won't break and the air is heavy. I feel like it's one of the few times in DC when people slow down, aren't always in a rush. People will take their time when they're walking their dogs down the sidewalk or stay a bit longer when sitting outside at a restaurant. If you could assign a personality type to a city, DC is definitely Type A most of the time, and I am most definitely not. And for a few brief moments on summer nights, I feel like everyone mellows out and matches my speed. :)
Lots of Type A around here, too. I was kind of jarred by the lack of it when we were in California this week, especially San Francisco. I think I only heard a handful of car horns the entire time we were there.
ReplyDeleteThe garden in the first picture is gorgeous!
And! I hope you're feeling a lot better. :-/
ReplyDeleteThe combination of a sinus infection and dental work sounds AWFUL. I hope you're feeling better now! I'm also a huge fan of twilight in the summer - it's my favorite time. Beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteNo, I wish that was my garden! Actually, the last photo with the shadows is inside my living room, but the street shots were taken in an area about 15 minutes away.
ReplyDeleteSinus infections suck! I hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteLove your shadow picture :)
Beautiful photos, sorry to hear that the last few weeks have been a bit rough! Hope things improve, this was a lovely post xx

Sorry you weren't feeling too good, hope all is better now! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better!! It's no fun to be feeling lousy especially if it's painful, and no fun to be sick in the summer!
ReplyDeleteI love your description of DC and I agree with the summer twilights being a little slower and calmer. It's a nice feeling. We're going to be sliding into autumn pretty quickly so we need to enjoy the summer while we still have it!
