Outside there's a box car waiting

I was cleaning out some files on my computer and came across these photos from last year that I never posted. I think it was March of 2013...Peter and I had to make a trip down to the middle part of Virginia and decided to get off the highway and take the scenic route. I was intrigued by this train depot in the town of Beaver Dam and snapped a few photos.

It's coincidental that I should come across these photos this week because several other train-related things also popped up in my periphery. First, I read that Amtrak is offering residencies to writers on its longer routes now, which is awesome. And then I saw that The Station Agent is back on Netflix instant, so I watched it again. (It's a really great movie if you've never seen it.) And then yesterday, I saw a little snippet reporting that more people in Spain traveled by train than by plane during the month of January for the first time since such records were kept on a monthly basis. And why not? I hate flying and would much rather travel by train.

Anyway, all this train business must be fate telling me to take a trip somewhere, don't you think? :)
