Bits of February

Sunday walks when the sun came out and the weather warmed up a bit: exploring an empty cottage, a wooded trail, and colorful houses make me happy.

Lots of treats in February (not unlike January...or every other month). My dad had written to me that "Mom was partying with her Shanghai friends for Lunar New Year," so it was quite logical when a package showed up a few days later with Chinese candies. I also went to Krispy Kreme for the first time in years...was like reuniting with a long lost love.

Spent a lot of time inside in February as the weather was mostly crap. Packed up orders, wore my heart blouse, made some hedgies, and noticed interesting shadows in afternoon light.

Various pics from out and about: had some serious porch envy at this house, a pretty church in Old Town, an enormous chandelier that was very sparkly at an antique shop, and our new dining table and chairs (which I will do a proper blog post on soon).

  2. Beautiful purple door! There are plenty of those in Baltimore (as well as our bright, rich teal door) and it really makes the winter months much happier. I am very excited to eventually read about your table and chairs-- they are fantastic! I showed them to Andrew and the architect in him was drooling!

  3. Love that shadow on the wall - I spotted one of those recently, although my photo wasn't as good as yours. But since then the sun has hidden so it was wonderful to see it again in your bright, bright images - thank you for sharing :)

  11. Looks lovely! Oh, when you said Krispy Kreme my mouth watered. I haven't been to one (or seen one for that matter) in years either! I've been overindulging a bit too much lately myself.... WHat a gorgeous set of photos!

  13. Ah, so THAT'S the table I've been hearing about. :) I like it! I like the geometric legs at the end. Very smooth and clean looking. (I like smooth and clean. Much better than ... you know, rough and unclean.) ... okay, I'm tired, I get it. This is a terrible comment. So to continue on with my late-night rambling: hedgehogs are cool (especially Sonic) and shadows are even cooler, especially in black and white.

Okay, Dawn needs to go to bed now... I'm going to laugh in the morning when I come back to this and attempt to read it.
