This Week

For 2014, I thought it would be a good idea to map out my weeks, at least loosely. I'm an odd bird when it comes to planning...if I have something set, like tickets purchased for a trip, then I will research and plan a lot. But the rest of the time, I tend to be very go-with-the-flow and unstructured. That's just my personality and also probably part of being a creative person. But this year, I really want to make the most of my days (and create lots of art). I think setting weekly goals will be a good place to start.

I don't plan on boring you with the minutia of errands and tasks that need to be completed each week. But I'll probably share things I'm working on from time to time. I know I like to see work in progress from other folks, and sharing more might help hold me accountable to the bigger projects I want to accomplish.

So this week: I'm working on new things for the shop. I started drawing and painting again toward the end of last year, and then I had to abandon it when I got busy with orders from the shop and holiday craziness. So I want to start drawing and painting again every week. I also need to get the house in order. There are still random holiday decorations up, boxes brought back from my parent's house to unpack, and the general mess of day-to-day life. When you live in a tiny house, clutter can quickly become overwhelming. And I want to finish framing my prints and hang them in the living room. (I'll share pics when it's done). I have a couple of other just-for-fun projects I want to start. If they turn out well, I'll blog about them too. And last, I'm overdue to write some letters/make a few cards for awesome people.

What are your plans for the week?

  1. Well..I'm teaching all week but the students are doing a lot of testing so it should be a good week. I have to create a unit plan for a lesson that starts in 2weeks and I need to list some new items to the shop. I'm hoping to get that done today. I am also in the process on working on a book with a friend and last Friday we kind of decided we are going to do this and so I'm working out a schedule for us to get everything done within a year. So.. busy busy busy.

  2. Except for a meeting with two other friends who have their own shops (we'll try to have a monthly get-together and talk business), nothing special planned this week. Have fun with your creative projects!

  4. I like the idea of a weekly plan! I'm taking care of a bunch of boring errands this week (oil change, returning library books, etc.) and I had planned to get some DIY projects done, but it's too cold to easily spray paint. I might start on our trim instead.

  5. Those are some good plans, best of luck completing them! My week will consist of seeing if I can keep up another week without caffeine (I miss it terribly) and hanging a mirror over my fireplace which I have been meaning to do for aaaages.
