Snow painting

I mentioned on Monday that we got more snow, and rather than just pout about it all day, Peter and I decided to have a little fun. We thought if we can't have pretty spring colors outside, we'll just make our own! All it takes is a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of food coloring.

Our goal was to make these funny little trees look like giant snow cones.

We took turns with the spray bottle because ours was actually really hard to get going. We both had sore forearms after a while, but it was worth it.

We just kept building up layers of different colors till we reached the perfect pastel rainbow of snow cone dreaminess.

Painting snow is so fun and if it hadn't been freezing out, we would've stayed out longer and maybe experimented with other methods in addition to the spray bottle.

It seriously made us so happy every time we passed by the window and glanced outside...much better than moping about our never-ending winter.

It's already melting now, but it was pretty while it lasted. :)

Has anyone else ever tried snow painting?

  2. We did this in school for a project one year. We had teams and each team built something out of snow, then we painted them with spray bottles of food coloring...so fun!
And your trees look so tasty :)

  3. That looks magical! I had a roommate in college that did a bit of snow painting. She made a swimmer surrounded by shark fins in the snow and made the 'water' red. It was kind of disturbing... but also pretty neat!
