Today's Finds

"North Adams, Winter" large oil painting from Wickstrom Studio

Vintage photograph collection from Smile Mercantile

Vintage trinket box from Cake Number 9

1960s classic wool coat from Adelaide Homesewn

Convertible crochet mittens from Mitreva

I've probably professed my dislike of winter many times here on the blog, but it's here now and there's nothing to be done about it. So we might as well look cute and be warm and decorate our walls with pretty snowy scenes. And looking at those vintage photographs of fat, smiling babies and adults tossing snowballs around makes it all seem like lighthearted fun, right?

As I typed that I was actually thinking of Michael Scott saying "No, I hate it! I hate it! ...I don't hate it, I just don't like it at all. And it's terrible." Haha. But it's a new year, and we have to at least try to embrace the positive. So even though the wind is brutal today and we're supposed to see some snowflakes tonight, I'm going to focus on cute snowmen, and warm coffee shops, and cozy sweaters and socks, and cute pompom hats, and all the other things that are nice about winter...at least for a little while. :)

  1. Ah Michael Scott...that's a good one! Love your little collection. That painting is beyond gorgeous! Ya all we can do is make winter less painful. Do you watch Downton Abbey? For me, that is making the winter a little less...winter-y...

    Happy New Year!

    1. I do watch Downton Abbey, but I'm watching it the slow way--haha--on PBS, and they only just showed the first episode of the latest season last Sunday. I know a lot of folks who downloaded the whole season as soon as it became available online, so I'm trying to avoid spoilers! You're right, though, it definitely gives me something to look forward to on Sunday nights! :)

  2. I love those vintage photographs! You know I'm the same page as you about winter. I'll do my best to embrace your positive attitude, although I'm not promising anything. ;)

    1. I know it's so hard! Not even joking. This is the time of year I start feeling anxiety whenever I check the weather forecast. And it makes it really difficult to do the things I love, like take photos outside. :(

    1. I agree completely! I'm fine as long as I'm not out in the cold, wet ice and snow. I'm not really outdoorsy in the best of weather haha. I much prefer to watch from someplace cozy. :)
