Getting Organized

I picked up a new calendar/planner at Paper Source on Monday (they're 50% off right now!) and a pack of LePens in a renewed attempt to get organized. I have tried this before with other calendars that I didn't like using and inevitably, reverted back to my "system" of post-it notes and to-do lists scattered all over my desk. Living in paper-strewn chaos is not ideal, obviously, so I'm hoping these pretty things will motivate me to stay on track with projects and be a little tidier too.

I have to admit, writing my first "to dos" yesterday was pretty satisfying and crossing them off even more so. (That little jotter is from Caren Barry; her Etsy shop is filled with all manner of pretty floral things, check it out!)

I also picked up some washi tape at IKEA on our last trip. We were there to buy some plant pots, a stool, and other practical things, but you know how cute things have a way of slipping into your cart. ;)

By the way, if anyone has any tips about getting organized, sticking to a schedule, or sorting out life in general, please feel free to leave me a comment. xo, Mary

  1. Lovely post, Mary! I had no idea IKEA sold washi tape...not that I needed another reason to go!

Hm...organizing...the list! I'm a list maker like you. It's almost like a self-fulfilling prophesy or something. If I don't write a task down, it almost certainly won't get done. Also: assigning rather big, annoying tasks to one month at a time works for me. For example: going through our under-the-sink-stashes is on my roster for this month. I'm pretty sure that I'm hoarding perfume samples and that there is a rubber ducky that is not quite so ducky anymore...they need to get tossed!

  2. IKEA has washi tape?! Ahh! I know I know I mentioned this before in a blog comment convo that staying organized is tough for me as well. I've been staying on track (mostly) by using a really ridiculous and intense planner that schedules each day, breaks down bigger tasks, and gives me space to jot down the top 3 things that HAVE to get done that day.

  3. Also, Le Pens! I may need to run and get some!

  4. Organizing my paperwork, to do lists, plans, etc. is still something I struggle with. I can keep my Etsy orders organized, but my local orders are a whole other mess. Luckily my days are pretty open so I don't have to stick to a strict schedule, but I'm with you on the post it note mess!
